I do not personally use twitter. However, I have used it for multiple classes throughout my education at Florida State. I have been interacting with fellow classmates, news channels that tell me current events, celebrity accounts, and some funny accounts. I have found that twitter is a good social media platform that combines education and personal life. It it also a great way to keep up with current events. Even our President tweets!
I am a believer in "digital divide" because I have experienced it personally in my own classes. I have noticed that some people are less familiar with some forms of technology than I, or other students. This can create a divide in the classroom. It can be difficult to get all the students on the same page if this divide is present. Teachers that experience this in their classroom should thoroughly explain what is expected of their students so they can review these skills on their own time.
An academic software I might want to use in my classroom is SecondLife. I have used this platform in one of my classes. It was an interesting and creative way to learn about the class, as well as about technology. Some parts of SecondLife however can be very unnecessary and time consuming.

  1. I am glad that you are aware of digital divide. It is something that educators should keep in mind.
