ILP Participation- Florida Food Handler's Certificate
I completed a mandatory food and drink handling course for a restaurant in which I previously worked at. All employees were required to complete this course. It is a law in Florida. The course I participated in costed my around $10. It took me a total of about 5 hours. (3 hours for food handling and safety regulations and 2 hours for an alcoholic beverage course.) The food portion of the course included an online textbook which I was prompted to thoroughly read though. The textbook was broken into sections. The sections included how to handle meat properly, how to sterilize cooking tools, and how to handle allergens to ensure the safety of your customers. Handling meat is very important to the safety of the customers. Varying temperatures can greatly affect not only the quality of a meat, but also the bacteria that lives on the meat.
