I believe the ELA technology standards are a great educational foundation to any student. These skills are important to teach to students early on at a basic level, as well as later in their lives as their education gets more specific to their job fields of interest. These English Language Arts skills have been taught at an early age in order to develop the fundamentals of reading, writing, speaking, and understanding language and grammar as a whole. Many basic technology learning standards I am very comfortable with/teaching. I have advanced knowledge about basic Microsoft office skills. I am also very comfortable in teaching writing in terms of sentence, paragraph, and essay structure. I would have some difficulty understanding and teaching more advanced technology in which I have never worked with before such as a smart board. In the CPALMS Educator Toolkit, I notice that their is a resource to keep lesson plans organized. I think this resource would be very useful because I can re...

MS Word is an application that I find myself using almost every day of my life. I have used it very often ever since high school for educational reasons. In High School, I used MS Word more to create study guides an occasionally to write papers. But in College, I am constantly writing papers or completing assignments using Word. Since my major is very English and Media focuses, I do quite a bit of work online through Word. I am currently in 2 online classes which for the most part, only function by submitting papers created in MS Word. My teachers use Word as a way to create exams, syllabuses, announcement and everything in between. They also use it as a way that students are able to submit files to them for grading in a uniform way (.docx). Learning about copyright has been much more emphasized in my College years rather than my High School or younger years. I have not personally experienced any issues with copyright besides some YouTube videos being taken down due to these laws. In...
Blog Post #1 As the use and the development of technology increases as a whole among all of society, education technology also is advancing. More students and teachers are using technology in the classroom in order to keep up to date on all the latest breakthrough. It is important to teach students who are soon to enter the job force, these new, modern, and useful approaches to education and life as a whole.  The ISTE standards are advanced standard for how students and teachers should go about using technology in the classroom. One standard that is meaningful to me is the “empowered learner standard.” This is because I believe taking an active role in my education is important to me. I recognize how privileged I am to have the opportunity to get an education, so I choose to actively pursue my learning. One standard that I may consider to be outside of my skill set is the “global collaborator standard” this requires you to recognize different global outlooks while finding a common...
My name is Anna Spencer. I am from Tampa. I am a Senior here at Florida State. I am studying Humanities with focuses in Communication, Film Studies, and Digital Humanities. One interesting fact about me is that I am a vegan and have been for about 6 years. I have often used technology in an educational setting especially due to my major and the required classes in which I am taking. The use of technology is very important in the three areas of my major. I have been taught how to used the main three parts of Microsoft office. I have also been taught about social media for marketing and other forms of business. In this class, I hope to learn more about the small details in Microsoft Office, since it is so often used after college. I hope to learn more about emerging technology that are used for education purposes, since education is so important. Finally, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of the educational technology surrounding me at a large University.
